Soft-spoken, a gem of a person, handsome and an excellent actor, an adorable human being, Gagan Kang lost his life on the road today while returning from his studio in Umbergaon in Gujarat. He was found dead on the steering wheel along with his co-actor Arjit in the front seat and spot boy in the rear seat after he supposedly lost control of the car around 11.15am and crashed into a stationary trailer. The impact of the crash was so massive that the strong roof of the car was torn away from the front. There is no idea if he was drinking on his way back home during travel as the news claims the beer cans were littered in the car.

Gagan who was a fitness freak, has done films and many tv shows like Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman and currently was playing LORD INDRA in a mythological tv show, MAHAKALI, Anth hi aarambh hai on Colors channel. 

He was a dear friend of mine since he had worked with us in one of our projects and was always cordial with people and constant in touch with me. The heart breaking news shocked me greatly. He left us at such a young age. May the souls of Gagan and his friends rest in peace!

A lot can be said about persona of Vinod Khanna whom we lost a few days back. What an actor, a great human being, a pleasant personality, an handsome hero, a charming villain, a rare entity, a great swagger, a manliest man, a gem of a person, a veteran legendary actor who always held deep respect for others. What a great loss to our film industry! His sad departure would be felt greatly especially by those who knew him on personal level and had worked with him on some project or the other. 

WHAT SNR BACHCHAN WROTE ABOUT AFTER HIS SAD DEMISE SAYS A LOT ABOUT VINOD KHANNA

In Amitabh Bachchan's own words....

Motionless .. still .. eyes shut in perpetuity .. a form on wooden logs .. covered .. flames about .. and a life turned to ashes ..

I first saw him entering the Ajanta Arts office in Bandra, of Sunil Dutt, where I was making my way to seek a job .. a most good looking handsome young man .. a body in elegant frame .. a swagger in his walk .. and a gentle smile as he looked towards me .. it was 1969 .. he was working in the Ajanta Arts film, ‘Man ka Meet’ .. I was struggling to get a role, any role, anywhere ..

In time we met again within the same precincts .. he and I were working in the same film of Dutt Saheb, ‘Reshma aur Shera’ .. look trials in the office of the film .. travel and sittings on the story .. Thapa saheb, Ali Raza, Sukhdev and those all night meets, most novel for me .. my first brush with the way the film industry functioned .. the time for the shoot and the excitement of travel on a location in Jaisalmer .. the months we spent together and after .. driving in the scorching heat of the deserts of Rajasthan to the location, Pochina, in the sands of nowhere near civilisation .. living under one tent - Vinod, Ranjit, Thapa Saheb, Ali Raza saheb about seven of us in the same tent .. then similar number at a make shift residence in the city of Jaisalmer - Amrish Puri joining us in that room filled with all of us, living laughing, working .. carefree days .. the rigors of that location and its environs ..

return from the location his continued connect with me .. he a big star .. but always most humble with selfless concern for others .. the rides he would take me on, in his recently acquired Beetle VolksWagen, yellow in color .. his generosity in smuggling me into the only Disco Club in the city at the Taj, where he was a member, and I not even remotely in any state to become one .. his marriage to Geetanjali, whom he and we all fondly called Gitly .. the birth of his sons, Rahul and Akshay, whom he often brought on to the sets of AAA ..

That incident at a restaurant in SoBo, where someone made a snide remark, and he took him on, getting knifed in the arm during the scuffle, but being victorious ..

The sudden passing of his Father soon after our work together in ‘Reshma’ .. I being with him in his hour of grief .. and then .. the amazing chemistry of the several historic films that we did together .. an association that was so loveable and considerate .. spending time in each others make up rooms, sharing our lunch, just biding time and talking of all kinds of talk .. the late shoot pack ups and the beyond midnight drives to Juhu Beach, to just sit with our directors and he to have a drink, and I mine ( I used to in those days ) ..

That guilt ridden incident when I had to fling a glass in a scene towards him and it accidentally hitting his chin, cutting him open right through to his teeth .. the remorse regret and guilt within me to date for that unforgiving accident .. rushing him to his doctor, late at night, getting stitched up, driving with him to his house to settle him in and to just keep apologising for this horrific accidental slip ..

The sudden brush with him as he ran up the stairs in Breach Candy Hospital, where I had gone to visit a friend, and his anger and grave faced expression - he learning of the accident of his close relative on a motorbike, and him wanting to be with her as she struggled for her life ..
His friendly gesture of appearing in a film of mine ‘Zameer’ .. the times we spent on it at various locations .. the most rigorous being action sequences shot in the interiors of Udaipur, well into the night and dawn, with that most respected Action Coordinator Khanna Saheb .. after the sequence was filmed, Khanna Saheb sitting with us in the early hours of the morning and emotionally expressing his great joy in working with the two of us ..
“give me these two artists in an action drama and I shall extract the best ever seen” .. he would commend us ..
The Hotel in Udaipur and our rooms distanced .. me away in one lonely corner and he in another .. I call him in the middle of the night and express the loneliness .. he inviting me over and saying to stay with him in his room .. for a newcomer you cannot imagine what this meant to me to be treated like this by a star ..

His confident charm was infectious .. there was always an optimistic swagger about him .. a smile .. a laugh .. a casualness .. nothing seemed to disturb him one felt .. the relaxed ‘cool’ of today’s times ..

The jigs we would invent on set .. impromptu songs .. when 5 Librans working together in the same film at the same scene would break into - Shammi Kapoor ji, Amjad, Kader Khan, Vinod and I - our little ditty, on the sets of ManMohan Desai’s “Parvarish” ..
‘We are crazy Librans .. **%#@!! up this film” .. !!!
And the uproarious laughter that followed each shot that we gave together ..

And then one day his sudden decision to the following of Rajneesh .. his passion and the strength of his belief .. his sincerity in his following, right to California where Rajneesh had shifted .. I met him in Los Angeles during this period on a stray visit, and he spent hours at a common friend’s place explaining to me what the movement meant not just to him, but to the World in general ..

And this afternoon that association of 48 years came to an end ..

This man .. this body of enthused energy and giving .. this friend .. this colleague .. this ever smiling swagger infested individual, lay motionless ..

No one walked the way he did .. no one had the presence he had in a crowded room .. no one could lighten up the surroundings he was in, like him .. no one ..

Since I noticed spark of talent in Priyanka in her debut movie itself, 1971, beyond borders, I had been craving to write about this new tall & beautiful lass. Before the interview, I had prepared a definite questionnaire for her and went on asking one after another when I found time.

Hahha:) yeah I am quite tall and stand 5.8ft. With regard to beauty I must say the god has been kind to me but I want to be known for my talent not my beauty.

WHICH PART OF INDIA YOU ARE FROM?

I was born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh but brought up in Delhi & now I am happy to be in my dreamland, Mumbai.

HOW MANY MEMBERS ARE THERE IN YOUR FAMILY? 

After a bit pause, she began with a sad note, "I miss my father a lot who passed away few years back and am left with my mother and elder brother, that all there is in my family now." Though, I am in Mumbai but we are well-connected.

WHAT DID YOUR DAD DO?

He was a Govt. officer and an advocate.

HOW DID YOU DREAM TO BE AN ACTOR? 

I started my career as a model while I was studying.  That kind of inspired me to join theatre for sometime then film happened but of course I always wanted to be an actress as cinema is my life. I love watching movies a lot as I am into it big time, can't imagine my life without cinema. Like many others, I have been through initial pressures too, as my family was bit conservative. But God has been kind to me I guess in the end.

HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR CAREER HEREAFTER? YOUR FUTURE PLANS? 

I wish I could see my future but I aim to do loads of films especially performance-oriented  Future plans yea I mean want to do more films gud performance oriented roles . And if I am offered BAJIRAO MASTANI kind of historical movie, that would be just great!

HOW DID YOU GET YOUR DEBUT FILM, 1971, BEYOND BORDERS?

I did a TV commercial with Mohanlal sir before this movie came my way and that was directed by priyadarshan sir. Priyan sir recommended my talent to Major Ravi sir. Then Ravi ji took my audition & found me suitable for his movie for the character of Ameera that's how I happened to do this movie. :)

ANY OTHER ASSIGNMENTS THAT YOU HAD DONE BEFORE THIS MOVIE? 

Film wise this was my first assignment. But yeah, before this I had done lots of commercial ads, Short films, Fashion Weeks as a ramp model and lot of brands shoot all over world.

ANY OTHER SOUTH FILM ASSIGNMENT YOU ARE CONSIDERING AT THE MOMENT?

Wish I could reveal at this stage, but soon you would get to know about the ones I would take final call about. A few them are there in pipeline to be honest.

Indian I like Kangana Ranaut I admire the sheer guts she often speaks with. She is really a strong woman n talented actress. With regard to overseas, I like Anne Hathaway, Megan Fox and Sandra bullock.

Ranbir Kapoor, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

I love a lot science fiction like interstellar, gravity also suspense, horror, action, romantic.

It's pretty tough here especially for outsiders who have no support and have to take a shot at it on their own. Still, I would say nothing is impossible if you are focused and have never-give-up kind of attitude for your target in life.

TELL YOUR READERS SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR MODELLING CAREER IN BRIEF BEFORE THIS MOVIE HAPPENED? 

I have done so many TV Commercials like Lloyd, Sunland Sunflower oil, Lee, hair oil and many others. I did ramp walk for wills India fashion week n lakme Indian fashion week and also many other big Indian designers. I did Hindi & Punjabi music videos, Jewelry brand shoot, lots of clothing brands as well, like W, Wills, Reebok etc.

AFTER ACHIEVING YOUR GOALS AS AN ACTOR WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO DO? 

Lots of successful celebs do charity stuffs in India and abroad and I guess I would follow their suit. Besides, I would also like to do something for poor kids for their education, also for the cause of widows and old people.

Having earned critical acclaim galore under International lime light and 25 international awards as best actress for her issue-oriented movie, Tara, Rekha Rana became restless to do something good for the needy people of the society. The noble thought didn't let her live in peace and brought her to the old age home of Vira Desai along with gifts for the deprived inmates. THE ROOTS

Youngest of four siblings in her business family, Rekha had shown distinct signs to be an actor in her childhood days itself. It was high time to showcase her simmering-about-to-burst talent. With her first play, JISNE LAHORE NAHI VEKHYA her confidence rose high by leaps and bounds. Then there was no looking back for her. 

FIRST CRUCIAL MOVIE

Step by step, she moved further on and in her initial days of movie career landed up doing a rather ordinary film, AB HOGA DHARNA UNLIMITED that was released on 13 April, 2012 but later came a very significant movie of her acting career, TARA that was selected for screenings in multiple international movie festivals and eventually offered her everything she possesses now. For a short stint in south, She did a film there as well. As luck would have it, her new movie, YAHAN AMINA BIKTI HAI is also slated to be screened in film festivals. Seems, she is heading for another JACKPOT!

Vikramjeet Singh Virk, a passionate actor with his eyes set on his goal

BORN INTO A SIMPLE FARMER'S FAMILY 

Vikramjeet Singh Virk, a devout Sikh,  was born into a simple Jatt farmer's family of Sukhwant Singh Virk in deep interiors of a relatively unknown village, Tharwa Majra about 30-32 km from Karnal city, Haryana set quite away from district roads. He is the youngest and single of four siblings (Two elder sisters and one brother) in the family who are settled in respective marriages. Like father like son, his elder brother, Sarbjeet Singh is taking care of the land as is the tradition of his family generation after generations. 

GERMINATION OF MODELLING DREAM
During his schooling, when he was only in his teens in 12th Std. he often got usual remarks from his classmates and friends for his good height and physique and that he could do well as a model with it. That's when he started toying with the idea of modelling career and began looking closely over his personality in mirror from a new angle & perspective. Filled with self admiration, this idea found roots in his heart and mind and shaped into his dream. Having thought of giving it a shot, he got his folio done with turban at Karnal city and started visiting Delhi secretly on and off to explore capital to see what the modelling scene was like there. 

In those days there were no Sikh models so he had to crop his hair to get going. He lost great deal of peace over it though as he belonged to a religious family that believed strongly in traditional values. After mulling quite some time over it, for the love of modelling he decided to sacrifice his hair.

He got selected in first audition itself because of his huge stature. As luck would have it, on his 19th birthday, on 19th July 2003 he set off his modelling career with LAKME INDIA FASHION WEEK. His mother Harjinder Kaur and Father were deeply upset to see him with clipped hair especially his father. So much so he did not speak to his son for almost a year over this issue. He found it difficult to go through this period at that tender age of 18. Vikram who holds great respect for his family, let it settle down and went into it big time with far-famed people from fashion world for seven years between 2003-2010 and did some music videos too simultaneously. 



JOURNEY AS AN ACTOR...

As modelling leads eventually to Bollywood, he also moved to glitter town with a glint of new dream in his eyes and got noticed soon by talent scouts. His first film happened to be, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey with Ashutosh Gowarikar followed by offers from down South for Malayalam and Telugu films. During his film stints, like an emotional fool, he landed up doing a Punjabi film which he realized later he should not have done and that particular mistake had given him a big lesson and made him careful as to what to do what not to. With dead determination he said he knows it well where he wants to be and he would leave no stone unturned for it.

LIFE AFTER IIFA NOMINATION 

Of course it feels good to see talent being nominated in some award category. The nomination for his south movie, Rudhramadevi was a little surprise to him though he honestly confessed he is capable of doing far better than what he did in that film as an actor. He was shooting for his new underproduction DRIVE, a movie produced by Karan Johar and being directed by Tarun Mansukhani at that time when he got an invitation call for the event but unfortunately could not get away to attend it because of his prior commitment to Dharma Production. Feeling a little apologetic for not being able to offer him time to attend his first big event, the production organized a surprise celebration for his nomination on the set.

FAVORITE HERO
He admired many but he spoke a few special words for Sunny Deol whom he admired a lot in GHAYAL, DAMINI,  and said he loves to watch his GADAR whenever it is aired on channel. Every body knows it turned out to be block buster of that year. 


FAVORITE HEROINE
He likes most of the leading actresses as he respects women a lot but mentioned Madhuri Dixit is the ultimate heroine who he believes is extremely talented, a complete actor in every sense and the other heroine he holds admiration for is Meenakshi Sheshadri as he was moved to watch her performances in some of her best movies? 

FAVORITE FILM
His favorite English film is "300" and his Bollywood Flick he loves to see is GADAR ek premkatha, a beautiful period love story set in pre-partition, partition and post partition.

FAVORITE DIRECTOR
Every director has his own way of working. He has had wonderful experiences working with different different directors from Bollywood and down south because every movie he has done so far have given him something to learn from. His favorite director however is Rajkumar Santoshi whose films he admires a lot since they often touched him emotionally and also for the way he is able to extract the best performances out of his actors. 

IDOL IN NEGATIVE ARENA
His idol in negative role is none but Amrish Puri and had a strong desire to see him face to face but did not get the opportunity. He wished to see two more persons Dara Singh and singer Jagjeet Singh. Since he knew Vindu he got a chance to see Dara Singh but could not get to see Jagjeet Singh. 

OPTING FOR NEGATIVE ROLES
He attributes it to his giant 6.3ft personality due to which he always had a strong belief he could do well especially in negative field. But an actor is an actor he said, be it negative or positive it hardly makes any difference to him. 

LOVE LIFE
As a devout Sikh he goes to Gurudwara everyday and sticks to certain ethics and principles in his life. And he strictly follows them and can never be a shrewd-filmy-type person. He is what he is. There is no place for any fake pretension in his life. What is more, the family traditional values mean a lot to him. He is a one woman man and would have no other female in his life after he decides to settle with his life partner in an arranged marriage of course.

He feels extremely lucky to be part of an ambitious upcoming historical project, a huge period film, BATTLE OF SARAGARHI to be directed by, his favorite director, Rajkumar Santoshi. He believes that this character has been destined especially for him as it suits him totes.
