A GREAT ARTISTIC LOSS THAT CAN NEVER BE RECOVERED...

LOSS OF A GREAT TALENT FOR CINEMA

Om Puri, graduate from FTII, an actor of great versatility, Padma Shri Winner, has died of heart attack on Thursday evening at the age of 66. The Veteran actor of commercial and parallel cinema with thundering baritone voice, had acted in scores of award winning movies and also worked in several crossover films.

His talent was noticed in 1983 for the first time in a popular Art movie, 'Ardh Satya' that is remembered even today for his brilliant performance that was directed by Govind Nihalani. That proved to be an instrumental movie of his life. His films, JAANE BHI DO YARON, MIRCH MASALA & PAAR are also widely acclaimed.

Om Puri was also from NATIONAL SCHOOL OF DRAMA, an alumnus of respectable theater training institute, Govt of India from 1973 batch. He is a great loss for the world of art culture and would always be missed.

He was gem of a person though fearlessly outspoken and straight forward at times on certain issues for which he was in controversies too.
